How do I know this is the right approach for me?

This is the right approach for you if you are:

- Ready to make big changes in your life
- Committed to achieving your objective and willing to put in the time and effort
- Are open-minded about different methods
- Are looking for an approach that is dynamic, hands-on and results-oriented (not just talking about the past)

The first step is an initial session. In this session you will be able to experience my approach first hand, learn how it works and decide for yourself if it is something you’d like to pursue.

How do I know this will work for me?

The truth is, you don’t. The purpose of the initial session is to give you an experience of my approach so you can decide for yourself. To learn more about what kind of results you can expect, take a look at video testimonials.

What is your approach?

My approach combines NLP (Neuro-Lingustic Programming) with other results-oriented cognitive approaches. Whereas many approaches to change focus on why someone has a problem, I aim to understand how the problem works, how it is kept in place and what we can do to change it as quickly as possible.

You can read more about the principles of my approach and how I draw on different systems of psychology in my article Effective Change: The Core Principles of My Approach.

There are also numerous articles on my teachings and principles on my blog.

What NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro-Lingustic Programming. This approach was first developed in the 1970s by studying therapists who were renowned for getting great results with clients. Today, it has evolved into a methodology for effective communication and change used in therapy, coaching, business, sales, education and leadership.

The basis of NLP is the idea that every human experience has a structure and if we find this structure, we can rearrange the pieces to change it. NLP looks at how the mind works and offer techniques and processes to produce change.

What is your background and education?

I have a Bachelor’s degree from McGill University in languages and linguistics and it is this that led me to study Neuro-Linguistic Programming. I was a lover of the study of languages and learned to speak 7 before devoting myself to the study of NLP and related approaches. I am now a trainer of NLP, certified in Neuro-Semantics, Design Human Engineering, Hypnotherapy and an Associate Certified Meta-Coach. I am the former Vice President of the Canadian Association of NLP and the director of the Canadian Meta-Coach Foundation. You can see a list of my certifications and education on my Linkedin profile.

What are sessions like?

In each session we begin by exploring a problem or an objective. We look at your experience with a sense of curiosity to understand how it works. You can expect many questions, some new awareness and realizations, new understandings of how you think and work as a person. From there, we proceed to various techniques and processes for change. It is difficult to describe what NLP techniques are like. The best way is to experience the processes for yourself in an initial session.

Each session is a dynamic and active experience working toward a result.

Is this hypnosis?

The short answer is no, but we could say yes.

In my opinion, any time your attention goes inward and you become relaxed and focused, you are experiencing a form of hypnosis. It is not some mystical, magical experience, but just state of mind.

Much of NLP, which is a cognitive-model of psychology, was developed by studying Milton Erickson, one of the world’s most famous hypnotherapists, to understand how he was able to produce the results he was producing. This means that many NLP techniques are “hypnotic” even though you are awake and conscious when you experience them.

To summarize, this is not traditional hypnosis, but you do experience states of calm, relaxation, trance, focus etc.

What are your rates?

The first step is an initial session. During this session, we’ll get to the bottom of things and find out what is stopping you from the results you want and what needs to happen for you to experience the changes you want. You’ll have an experience of our approach and you will feel very different after this session. After this session, most clients report:

- Feeling hopeful and more positive
- Feeling empowered
- Thinking differently
- That they understand what the problem really is how it can be changed

The cost of this session is $150.

At the end of this session, we can then discuss what exactly you need, how frequently we’ll need to meet, how many sessions etc. Then at this point we can discuss how it fits with your budget.

Sessions of 1.5 hours after the initial session are also $150.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, cheque, Visa and MasterCard.

What if my budget is limited?

If you are ready to make changes in your life and you are truly committed, I will do my best to work within your budget. At the end of the initial session, we will explore how we can work together, how frequently etc. If necessary, we can discuss paying with post-dated cheques and we can agree together on a time-line that is comfortable for you.

If finances are a problem, you may want to consider coaching to increase your income as part of your program. If you are a business owner or self-employed, coaching can be an investment in your business and financial results.

How long is each session?

Sessions are approximately 1.5-2 hours. When needed, we may do longer sessions of 3-4 hours, which is something we do in cases where there is more work to do and spreading it over time would be counter-productive.

In certain circumstances where rapid and major change is required, we may opt for a breakthrough session. A breakthrough session is a longer session of 5 hours or more completed in one day with the aim of creating a major breakthrough in a certain area of your life.

Do you offer insurance receipts?

Insurance receipts are available as are business receipts that you can use as a business expense coaching/training). If you would like insurance receipts, please mention this before the initial session or in your initial contact form.
